As part of the National Advisory Council for Amor ministries, I had the incredible opportunity, this past week, to meet with 26 pastors (and many of their wives) in Mexico. Each of these pastors has a congregation that God has called them to serve in and who also work for Amor Ministries guiding families toward receiving a house built by a team like ours. It was such a blessing to pray with them as we dedicated this year of service into God’s hands. We worshipped our Creator in Spanish at the tops of our lungs and took communion together recognizing the incredible unity that we have through the bond of Jesus Christ.
One of the highlights of the day was hearing the testimony of Pastor Adolfo Escamilla from Iglesia Cristo Vive. He shared his story of growing up in a non-Christian, needy family in Tijuana. His father was adamantly against evangelical Christianity, but when he was a young boy their family was given the opportunity to purchase their own land and have an Amor team build a house on it. The Pastor who gave them that opportunity shared the gospel of Christ over and over with them, but his father’s heart was hard to the message of grace.
After the team from America built the house for Adolfo’s family the pastor followed up time and time again and through his persistence and the message of grace the entire Escamilla family came to saving faith. When Adolfo grew older, he dedicated his life to the work of Christ and has since become a pastor who serves with Amor, providing shelter and hope for families in need.
As we prepare during the next 56 days before we leave for our Mission trip, would you commit to pray for our team? Pray that God provides us with an amazing connection with a church in Baja and that we are able to encourage and uplift that congregation as we serve there. Pray that we find ways to bring more than a structure to a family, but that we are able to convey the reason that we serve and the hope that we have in Christ. Pray for safety and team unity. Pray for the family that we will serve, that they will know Christ and that we are able to bless them and be blessed by them.
In Christ and for His glory,
